What brought me to Solent

As I stared blankly at the computer screen displaying UCAS, its safe to say that I felt a little intimidated. Despite having always known that I wanted to be a TV presenter, I really wasn't sure which angle I wanted to take for university.

I researched countless English courses and more Drama degrees than imaginable but none of them screamed 'me.' Through much disappointment, I took it upon myself to investigate the backgrounds of some established broadcasters when I finally discovered Journalism.

'Perfect!' I thought as I typed it into the UCAS search engine. My feeling of accomplishment suddenly changed as a very daunting list emerged in front of me. Who knew that Journalism had so many different platforms but after much indecision, Multimedia Journalism triumphed above the rest.

I'd finally uncovered my dream course but now I had to select my university. Having lived in Southampton my whole life, the thought of moving away any time soon was hard for me to accept. Being the home girl that I am, looking up places of study miles away was something that I found really difficult.

It wasn’t until later that I realised, why move away when I can stay at home and get the same degree at Solent! I decided that I could really use my familiarity with the city to my advantage and fully apply myself to the course whilst remaining at home with the people I love.

I have to say, it’s a really good feeling being sat at a computer in my seminar room, writing my first ever blog and not feeling quite as unsettled as the first time I applied for university. All I can say is, I’m on my way!
